(Borland and Sederland)



Attendance: Flutes - All Present with materials; Trumpets - No Show; Percussion - present with materials; Clarinet - WD

What we did ALL Students (Borland)
  • Flutes
    • Review and played lines 1, 2, 3, 4 to establish fingerings and tone quality on the 3 beginning notes
    • Played line 7 for assessment of performance target; each player met proficiency and awarded white bead
    • Began looking at line 16 (Hot Cross Buns); just introducing so half note and quarter note rhythms may not be solid yet; Still need to discuss legato articulation on quarter notes (technique of playing legato on the air stream)
  • Percussion
    • Assessed performance targets of line 23 and 25; continue to work toward proficiency
    • Assessed eighth note rhythms with Haskell-Harr lesson 7; continue to work toward proficiency

What we did
  • Winds and Mallets
    • Assessed performance targets on line 17, 23 and 25
      • Jacob and Isaiah met proficiency and awarded beads for 17 and 23; 25 is developing
      • Cayden is developing 17, 23 and 25
  • Drums
    • Tried to assess performance targets of Haskell-Harr lesson 7 but ran out of time
      • Grip and stroke must be discussed at the next lesson

What to do for next lesson
  • Clarinet: Meet performance targets for lines 25, 28 (composition); begin working on A in line 30, 31 and 34; "Let's Go Band" Tutorial
    • Mallets: Meet performance targets for lines 17, 23 and 25;
    • Drums: Meet performance targets for Haskell-Harr lesson 7

Looking Forward
  • Drums: Include the Bass Drum with the Snare Drum lines
  • Begin playing "Let's Go Band"
